Essential Slyde

Printer-friendly version

As a child, what was your favorite part of the school day? Think about it; was it not recess, the 15 minutes, three times a day, on the playground that you most looked forward to?

Three times a day the recess bell rings and children scramble to be first in line so they have first dibs on the best swing, or the best ball; the one that still has adequate air in it. Once out-of-doors children look for their friends; the friend that said they’d save a swing if they got their first, or agreed to start a game of soccer, or four-square, or tag; after all, you are racing against the clock – there’s only 15 minutes until the bell rings again and you have to go inside.

And so it is that playgrounds and recess belong to the world of children as does Slyde the Playground Hound. Armed with an ‘S’ that stands for Slyde and for playground Safety, and a bone on his belt that seconds as a wrench for tightening loose bolts, Slyde the Playground Hound is a child’s access to safe behavior while playing. To engage, inspire, and influence the health and safety of children, this is the essential Slyde.
