Slyde teaches children to be aware of hidden hazards -BIKE HELMET SAFETY AT THE PLAYGROUND

Printer-friendly version

Slyde says, “Keep your head”, don’t wear a bike helmet when playing on playground equipment. While wearing a bike helmet when riding a bike is imperative to the safety of the rider, before playing on playground equipment, children should always remove their bike helmets. Modern playground equipment design accounts for the size of a child’s head (ages 2 to 12 years), and equipment is manufactured to allow access and egress (getting on and off equipment) free of potential strangulation hazards. Add the size of a bike helmet to a child’s head and you’ve just added a potential for injury that is not only hazardous, it could be deadly.
