Park and Recreation Coordinators, Kim Woods and Brandy Kendirck, bring SLYDE® The Playground Hound to many Manteca Park Events. SLYDE®, known for his bigger than life attitude, captures the attention of small children and teaches them playground safety. At the dedication of Manteca's largest Park to date, Woodward Park, boasting 51 acres reserved for the community, SLYDE® made his appearance among other important folks such as City Councilman Jack Snyder. Jack has had his fingers in the planning and development of this newest of 40 Manteca City Parks, for over 20 years.

ENTANGLEMENT STATISTICS

ENTANGLEMENT -any condition where a child’s body, body part or garments have become caught or stuck, leading to injury or even to death by strangulation.

CAUSE OF DEATH -56% of reported fatalities, 82 deaths, were due to hanging, unintentional strangulation due to ENTANGLEMENT in foreign objects, items that were not designed to be part of the playground equipment such as ropes, clothing drawstrings, bike helmets and home-made rope swings.
